Choosed the director's cut of Battlefield Earth over the theatrical one, no regrets
My buddy in Tulsa dared me to watch both versions back to back last weekend. I picked the 140 minute cut because I figured more L. Ron Hubbard nonsense means more fun, and honestly the extra scenes make the goofy preaching almost coherent. The theatrical one feels rushed and mean, the long one at least commits to its weirdness. Has anyone else gone with a longer cut of a hated movie and actually enjoyed it more?

Honestly, that cut makes all the difference. My buddy Mike from Philly was the same way with the longer version of Daredevil, the one they released a few years back. He swore the theatrical version just felt like a bunch of scenes thrown at a wall, but the extended one actually gave Bullseye a real backstory and made the whole thing click. We watched it together one night and I was shocked at how much more fun we had. It was still bad, but it was bad in a way you could respect, like a B-movie that knew exactly what it was. The short cut just feels mean and lazy, but the long one at least tries to be a movie.

Man, that's exactly the vibe I got too. Sometimes the longer cut just gives the whole thing a pulse, you know?
