Spent $75 on a 'family fun' escape room kit for Thanksgiving...
My aunt got stuck in the fake bookcase prop for a solid twenty minutes. We had to stop the whole game to help her wiggle out while my uncle filmed it. The worst part was the 'mystery' prize was just a coupon for the same company. Has anyone else had a group activity totally flop like that?

Oh man, that sounds rough. We just did a regular puzzle instead last year and it went way better, no props to get stuck in. Honestly, keeping it simple saved the whole night.

Actually, the bookcase getting stuck is a safety thing they should have tested. Those home kits often skip basic stuff like exit sizes. The coupon prize is just cheap, though. Makes the whole expensive box feel like a scam.
