My aunt's Thanksgiving toast turned into a full breakdown over her new boyfriend
We were all at my cousin's house in Akron last year, and my aunt stood up to give a nice speech but ended up crying for 15 minutes about how her new partner doesn't like her cat. Has anyone else had a simple family moment spiral into a major therapy session for one person?

Notice how these meltdowns always happen at big group meals. It's not random. You get a captive audience, a little bit of booze, and the pressure to be thankful or happy. That combo is a trap for anyone sitting on some quiet sadness. The toast just gives them permission to finally let it out in front of everyone.

Oh man, that reminds me of a friend's birthday dinner. His mom got a bit too into the wine and started telling everyone how her new yoga teacher ghosted her. It was supposed to be a quick cheers, but we all just sat there for like twenty minutes while she unpacked her whole week. Super awkward. The cake just sat there melting.
