A super blunt cousin told me my gravy was lumpy at Christmas dinner so I started using an immersion blender and now no one can shut up about how smooth it is.

I just dropped the blender right into the pot for 30 seconds and suddenly everyone wanted my recipe has anyone else had a kitchen gadget save them from family roasting?

Hang on, are you telling me I spent years defending my lumpy gravy like it was a personal choice? I was the same way, thought immersion blenders were just another kitchen toy taking up cabinet space. Then my sister bought me one as a joke after I burned a pot of soup, and I tried it on my cheese sauce. Now I can't go back. It turned my sad, separated hollandaise into a silky dream, and my tomato soup went from chunky to smooth without having to haul out the big blender. Guess I owe my sister a thank you.

@grace_knight70 same thing happened with me and my hand blender, now everyone wants me to bring the gravy.
