Talked to a retired painter who changed how I prep edges

Guy named Dave at the shop in Denver told me he always scuffs along the tape line by hand instead of with a DA, saves him from those weird paint ridges afterward. Has anyone else tried this or is it just an old timer thing?

Never thought about it that way, scuffing by hand just makes too much sense now.

Read an article saying it prevents weird wear patterns lol.

You ever just try it and wonder why you didn't start sooner? For me, I had this pair of boots that felt almost too stiff to break in, and I was getting weird creasing near the toe. I started doing a gentle scuff by hand with some sandpaper on the problem spots, and honestly, it made such a difference. @king.stella is spot on about the wear patterns - my boots look way more natural now, no weird lines or nothing. Take this with a grain of salt, but it worked for me when nothing else did.
