Spent an entire Saturday chasing a dent that kept hiding on me

Had a 2018 Silverado side panel come in with a dent that looked like a simple 20 minute pull job but every time I thought I had it, the light showed another low spot. Three hours later I was still swapping between my stud welder and a slide hammer, feeling like I'd never learn to read body lines. Anyone else ever get beat by a dent that seemed way easier than it actually was?

the metal just wants to win"? nah, that's just bad light reading and impatience.

Honestly, I feel your pain man. I spent a whole afternoon on what I thought was a simple door ding on a buddy's Civic, and I swear that dent was playing hide and seek with me. Every time I pulled and checked it with the light, a new ghost low would pop up in a spot I'd already fixed. I ended up with more studs on that panel than a porcupine has quills, and I still had to call it a day and come back fresh the next morning. Ngl, sometimes the metal just wants to win, and you gotta accept the L and regroup.

And that's the thing with PDR, right? You think you've got it all lined out and the metal just laughs at you. I swear sometimes there's a ghost bump hiding behind every good pull you make. Ever try hitting it with some heat from a heat gun before you start pulling? It's a game changer on those stubborn spots, but you gotta be careful not to cook the paint.
