PSA: The parking lot at the Joshua Tree observatory has a perfect view of the Milky Way

I drove out there last night around 11 PM and the sky was so clear you could see the galactic core with your naked eye. I got way better shots just by setting my tripod on the asphalt instead of hiking into the sand. What's the darkest sky spot you've found that's easy to get to?

Yeah, I did the same thing at Cherry Springs in PA. Just pulled over at the viewing area (no hiking needed) and the stars were insane. My phone camera even picked up way more than I thought it would.

Seriously, just bring a folding chair and a red flashlight next time.
