I'm chasing the Perseids this August, need ideas for a dark sky campsite.

I get why you want to chase the Perseids, but honestly, it's talked up too much. Those dark sky campsites get super busy and expensive around that time, lol. I went once and it was a mess with people everywhere, not peaceful at all. And if the clouds roll in, you've wasted a whole trip. Save your money and watch from home, you might catch some anyway.

Feel for you on the crowded campsite thing, that can really kill the mood. Planned a big trip a few years back and got totally clouded out, it was such a letdown. Makes you wonder if all the planning is worth the stress. These days I just drag a lawn chair to the backyard and hope for the best.

Ugh, you're totally right @ross.riley, it's like that with so many things! There's this huge build-up and promise of a perfect experience, but the reality is often crowded, expensive, and stressful. I see it with concerts, fancy restaurants, even hiking trails now. Sometimes the quieter, simpler version you can do without all the fuss ends up being way better. Like just lying on a blanket in a local park beats a packed, noisy campsite any night.
