TIL that 'ask anything' made me quit solving things myself

I used to figure out problems on my own, but now I just post here. This has made me slower and less sure when I hit a bump. Are we trading fast help for losing our own skills?

My cousin replaced her phone screen using a guide online in like 20 minutes. I mean, she got it done fast and saved money. Idk if she needs to know all the inner workings to feel skilled. Maybe it's just using new tools to get things done.

Remember when Mark had that old truck that wouldn't start? He used to tinker for hours, checking spark plugs and the battery. Now he just googles the symptom and orders the part a forum suggests. He got his truck running faster last time, but I swear he wouldn't know a carburetor from a coffee maker anymore.

Does the knowledge matter if the truck runs? Maybe that's the trade we make.
