That old router of mine finally gave up the ghost last night

I was in the middle of a big file upload for a client around 9pm when our wifi just died. The router was a Linksys from like 2015 I think, and it had been acting flaky for months. I spent an hour resetting it and checking cables before I finally gave up and drove to the 24 hour Walmart. Picked up a new one for $80 and it's been rock solid since. What's the longest you guys have held onto a router before it crapped out?

My sister had a modem that lasted from 2009 to 2020. It just sat in her basement collecting dust the whole time though since she moved to fiber.

@dianas50 that basement router is a classic move. I held onto a Netgear from 2013 for almost six years, it just kept chugging along till one day it wouldn't boot.

A whole hour of troubleshooting for an old router. I doubt the client was going to fire you over a file upload delay.
