I used to plan my whole vacation around a paper map, now it's all on my phone

Back in 2015 I'd spend a whole evening with a AAA map and sticky notes mapping a road trip to the Grand Canyon. Last summer I just plugged everything into Google Maps on the fly while sitting in the passenger seat. I kind of miss the ritual of spreading that map out on the kitchen table and drawing lines with a highlighter. But I can't argue with not getting lost and having restaurant reviews pop up right when I'm hungry. Has anyone else given up paper maps completely or do you still keep one in the glove box?

I still keep a folded up state map in my door pocket from 2019. It's all wrinkled and has a coffee stain on it but I can't bring myself to toss it. I get why people use their phones though. It's just too easy to pull up directions and find food along the way without having to stop at a gas station and ask.

Tbh jennyp19 has a point there though, paper maps don't need a charger.

Paper maps don't work when your phone dies though.
