Got locked out of my classroom 3 times in one week - finally learned my lesson

Last Tuesday, I was walking to the parking lot after 6th period and realized I left my keys on my desk. Had to walk all the way back across campus. Security guy let me in. Then Thursday, same thing but this time I locked them in my desk drawer. Had to call the janitor to come pick the lock. By Friday I was so fed up I just slipped the keys into my front pocket before the final bell. Worked fine. Now I have a designated "keys only" pocket on my jeans. Has anyone else had to make those little rule changes for yourself just to survive?

Learned my lesson" sounds harsh, I think a keychain is just fine.

Man, you're spot on. A keychain is totally fine. I did the same thing for a buddy who was always losing his keys. I just grabbed a simple leather one from a local shop, nothing special. He still uses it years later, and it's got all this wear and tear that tells a story. It's not about the money or the flash, it's about the thought. People get way too hung up on making everything a big lesson or a grand gesture. Sometimes a small, practical thing is the best thing you can give.

Wait, but isn't the whole point of a gift to show you put some real thought into it? A keychain just feels so lazy, like you grabbed it at the checkout counter on your way out of the store. Wouldn't your buddy rather have something that actually shows you know him, instead of something he could buy for himself at any gas station?
