Took 4 Saturdays to figure out why my basement sink kept backing up
Turned out the vent pipe on the roof was clogged with leaves and a dead bird, not the drain line under the slab. I finally borrowed a $40 inspection camera from a buddy and saw it in 10 minutes. Anyone else skip checking roof vents first when they chase a slow drain?

That dead bird thing got me thinking about the first time I dealt with a mystery clog. I mean, I spent a whole weekend snaking the line under the bathroom floor, only to find out the vent was just screwed on crooked from a bad roof job a decade earlier. Idk why vents always seem like the last thing you check, but they're always the sneaky ones. My neighbor finally pointed it out after watching me curse at the floor for two days. Now I just climb up there with a leaf blower before I even touch a snake, it saves me so much time.

Wait, @the_riley, so did the leaf blower catch the dead bird before it turned into a whole science experiment, or did you find out the hard way like the rest of us? Curious if that trick works on animal carcasses or just leaves.
