Three months into Chamber events before I stopped trying to sell to everyone
I was hitting every Scottsdale Chamber mixer handing out cards like candy, talking to anyone who'd listen about my IT services. Then at a Mesa event last month this older guy just walked away mid-sentence. That stung. Finally realized I should be qualifying people first, asking what they do, not just pitching. Anyone else had that awkward moment where you realized you were the pushy person in the room?

Disagree a little here. Handing out cards and talking to everyone is how you figure out who actually needs what you sell. That guy walking away is just one person, not proof you were doing it wrong.

Ha! Yeah, my awkward approach probably scared him off too.
