Hit 50 new contacts at one Mesa networking mixer last Thursday

I usually walk away with maybe 5 or 6 business cards from those events, but this time I just focused on asking people about their biggest headache at work. Ended up with 50 connections and 2 follow-up coffee meetings set for next week. Has anyone else tried ditching the elevator pitch for just listening harder?
