Vent: That moment my climbing line got pinched in a crotch up near Santa Cruz

I was doing a big oak removal up a hill in Santa Cruz last Tuesday, and my climbing line got wedged tight in a branch crotch while I was trying to redirect. I ended up hanging there for 20 minutes fighting to free it, and my shoulder is still sore two weeks later. Anyone else had this happen and found a solid trick to keep lines from getting stuck like that?

A little bag of sawdust thrown in the crotch helps sometimes.

My friend Carol tried that once on a hiking trip up in the Adirondacks. She had this old pair of jeans that were pretty worn in the thighs and started chafing something awful about two miles in. She found a dry patch of dirt with some sawdust from a fallen tree and just scooped a little right down there. Said it felt weird at first but actually helped her finish the loop without having to turn back early. Course she had to brush it all out of her pants later but she said it was worth it.
