Just hit 500 trees planted in a single season and my back is screaming

Our crew in Bend finished a big city contract yesterday and the foreman showed me the count. I honestly thought we were maybe at 350, but the number was 512. That's a LOT of holes dug by hand in rocky soil. It matters because it proves you can hit crazy goals with a solid team and good planning, even when every day feels like a grind. Anyone else push past a physical limit they didn't think was possible this year?

That's a wild number to hit... especially in rocky ground. Makes my old summer job planting for the state look like a vacation. The days where your hands are just raw and you can't stand up straight, but you still somehow get the truck empty... that feeling after is something else. It sticks with you way longer than the back pain.

Yeah, that feeling of being completely spent but knowing you did the work, it's a real thing. I read an article once that called it "earned exhaustion," and that phrase always stuck with me. It's different from just being tired, it's a kind of proof you did something hard. You're right, @logan205, that memory of emptying the truck stays sharp long after you forget the aches. Makes you respect anyone who does that kind of labor day in and day out.

My buddy who works construction had that exact "earned exhaustion" feeling @henry604 was talking about. He finished a brutal concrete pour in the heat, said he just sat in his truck for twenty minutes too tired to even drive. But he was weirdly proud of it, you know?
