I finally got called out for skipping episode rewatches in a group watch

Last month during a weekly rewatch for an older series, someone noticed I kept saying I remembered key scenes but missed obvious details. They asked if I was reading recaps instead. I admitted I was. They said skipping the actual episodes means you miss the pacing and the quiet character moments that build tension. I started rewatching properly and the weekly discussions make way more sense now. Anyone else had a group call them out on a shortcut?

Did you try watching just one episode all the way through without checking anything? I used to do the same thing with a sci-fi series, thought I knew everything. Finally sat down and watched an episode cold, caught so much background stuff I missed.

Watching a full episode cold is the way to go, I did that with a drama I thought I had memorized and ended up catching a whole side character arc I completely glossed over. It makes you realize how much the show relies on those quiet beats to set up the bigger moments.
