Update: I thought using a heat gun on a stripped bolt was a bad idea until I saw a guy in Anchorage do it with a coffee can.

That coffee can trick works because it focuses the heat. You just cut a hole in the side and aim the gun through it. Saves your surrounding parts from getting toasted.

Yeah, that trick with the coffee can to focus the heat is smart. My buddy tried something like that after seeing @kim.xena talk about it. He used an old soup can on a frozen brake line fitting. It actually worked and he didn't melt the rubber hose right next to it.

Honestly that just sounds like a good way to start a fire. I'd rather just heat the whole area and be done with it.
