Question about the engine fix I watched at a resort airport

Seeing them use old parts without proper testing is why I stick to major carriers for long trips.

Reminds me of when my coffee maker broke and the repair guy used some random wire. Feels like cutting corners is everywhere now, not just planes. Makes you wonder what else gets patched up with whatever's lying around.

Honestly @blair248, I get the worry, but let's not blow it out of proportion. A coffee maker fix with spare wire isn't on the same level as aircraft maintenance. Lots of repairs use what's handy to get things working again, and it's often fine. The key is if it's done right by someone who knows what they're doing. I doubt most places are just slapping things together without care. Why do you feel like cutting corners has become so common?

Fixed my bike with a paperclip once, makes you question what really needs proper parts, right?
