Unpopular opinion: AI writing tools killed my creativity at work
I was using an AI to draft emails and reports for about 3 months straight, and last week my boss asked me to write a simple memo by hand. I froze for 10 minutes staring at a blank page, couldn't think of my own words. Has anyone else felt like relying on these tools made you worse at writing from scratch?

Dropping the AI for a week and forcing myself to write rough drafts by hand did the trick. Kept a notebook on my desk and just started writing whatever came to mind, even if it was garbage. After a few days the panic of the blank page went away. Also started reading more emails out loud before sending them, which helped me find my voice again.

logan705, that part about reading emails out loud is something I actually disagree with a little. I tried that for a while but it made me overthink every single word and slowed me down too much. I think it works better for short stuff like texts or quick replies, not for longer emails where you're trying to sound natural. For longer writing, I'd rather just hit send and then correct it later if something sounds off. The handwritten drafts thing though, that's solid advice. I did the same thing last year and it really helped me get past that blank page fear.
