Overheard an agency owner say they never cold call anyone for partnerships
Talked to a guy at a co-working space in Austin last week who said he only partners with people who reach out to him first and honestly it made me wonder how many deals I have lost by being the one doing the chasing.

You only partner with people who reach out first" - that's exactly what my buddy in San Diego does and he's been running his agency for 12 years now. I tried that approach for a month last spring and ended up with zero new partners while my inbox sat Quiet.

A month of waiting is way too short for a grind like that. Took my old business partner in Houston almost two years to build a solid referral network. He'd send out 50 cold emails a week, follow up with phone calls, even drop by their offices.
Got a few polite nos then one yes that turned into a decade long partnership. Patience pays off but you gotta put in the legwork first. Not just sit there hoping for the bell to ring.

Real talk though, only partnering with people who reach out first also screens for who actually wants to work with you versus who you have to convince - that saved my cousin in Austin months of wasted meetings with people who were just being polite.
