My old house near UNM had a stuck window that wouldn't budge for months.

I rubbed a bar of plain soap along the wooden track and it slid open like new. Has anyone else found a simple fix like this for a stubborn window or door?

That reminds me of a squeaky sliding door I had. A little bit of candle wax on the track did the same trick as your soap. It's crazy how the old ways still work best sometimes.

Totally agree, those old tricks are the best. I had a wooden screen door that scraped the concrete step every time you opened it. I just took some sandpaper to the bottom corner for a minute and it stopped catching completely. It's so satisfying when a two-minute fix works after you've been annoyed by something for ages.

Oh man, my windows are so stuck I'd need a whole soap factory.
