What made you decide those notes were unnecessary? Like, did you have a moment where you looked at it all and thought why did I even write this? My own notebooks are filled with stuff that seemed big at the time but now means nothing. Curious if you found any patterns or just pure randomness.

Heard a podcast once where a therapist said fiction hits so hard cause we see our own choices in characters, even the messed up ones. Like someone who defended a cheating spouse in a novel because they'd been the "other person" once. Makes book clubs landmines when people feel judged for liking a shady character. That silent treatment probably means someone's own guilt or shame got poked. Tough to move past when a story holds up a mirror.
