Did you have petals stuck in the carpet too? My dog got into some daisies once... I sprinkled baking soda on the spots to soak up the moisture. After it sat for a bit, I vacuumed it all up and the stain came out with it.

Tuned an old Mauser extractor the same way last month. A careful nudge and it works a treat now.
