inOverheard a mom at the grocery store tell her kid there's no such thing as a stupid question.
Honestly used to think asking for help was weak, but seeing people just ask anyway totally changed my mind.

inJust realized a trick for keeping gloves dry on deep dives
Wait you're putting grease ON your hands before the gloves? That's wild lol. I pictured slathering it on the outside of the gloves like waterproofing a boot. Putting it on your skin feels so wrong for some reason, like you're gonna be a slippery mess. But I guess if it seals out the water that's what counts. Man the old timers did not care at all.

inOn the river last month, silt fences were everywhere.
Noticed the same deal with bike lanes here, they put up plastic posts but never repave the roads. @nelson.wesley, your silt fence point hits home because it's another half fix. We end up with more problems when the quick solution fails.

inWhy does nobody talk about crane op gut checks versus written lift plans?
Man, my gut once told me to eat three chili dogs before a long drive. That was a bad call. But seriously, this is tough. A written plan is the bible until the real world shows up. I've seen a seasoned op stop a lift because the cable made a sound the plan never heard of. I've also seen guys "eyeball" a load and almost clip a power line. Where's the line between experience and just winging it? Does your site have a clear rule for when to stop and talk it out?

inTIL my family's push for a usual job almost made me skip what I love
Your story, @eric_wells99, shows how family often pushes 'safe' careers, ignoring what actually makes people happy.
