Our $350 furnace repair turned into a $1,900 fix after one bad igniter
Last month our furnace started clicking but wouldn't fire up. I called a local HVAC guy in Sherwood Park and he quoted $350 to replace the igniter, which sounded fair. He got it done in an hour and we thought that was the end of it. Three days later the same clicking came back, and this time he found a cracked heat exchanger. That meant a full replacement unit, which ran us $1,900 including labor, and we had to wait four days for the part. I wish I had asked for a full inspection instead of just the quick fix. Has anyone else dealt with a repair that came back to bite them like this, and did you get any money back from the first company?
