My rooftop herbs are a bird buffet now

In my neighborhood, rooftop gardens are popping up everywhere. I planted some mint and basil up there. Now pigeons visit daily for a snack. I hung old CDs to scare them, but they just stare at their reflections.

Man, is it even a problem? Free pest control, and they're just taking a little. Way worse things could happen to a garden than some birds having a bite. Those pigeons clearly own the place now anyway.

Actually, pigeons don't really do pest control. They mostly eat seeds and plants, not insects. So if they're in your garden, they're probably eating your crops, not helping with bugs. I've seen them strip young plants bare in no time, which sucks for any gardener.

Own the place" is a good way to put it. But when they're eating everything you planted, isn't that kind of a big deal?
