The time a guy on the bus tried to sell me his dentures for bus fare

I was on the 4 bus in Denver last Tuesday heading home from work around 6pm. This older guy hops on and sits next to me and starts telling me he forgot his wallet and needs $2.75 to get to Aurora. I told him I didn't have cash and he reached into his mouth and pulled out his top dentures and held them out to me. He said 'these are worth at least $50 you can sell em.' I just sat there frozen while he tried to negotiate the price down to $1.50. The driver kicked him off at the next stop but I still think about those teeth every time I ride that route. Has anyone else been offered something weird as payment on a bus?

On the 16 bus in Portland a guy tried to trade me a half-eaten bag of pretzels for my phone charger. I just said no thanks and looked out the window until he got off. Sometimes you just have to pretend you don't hear them and hope they move on. Worked for me.

Pretending they aren't there feels rude, so I usually try giving a polite but firm no to keep things clear.

That denture guy was offering a solid deal honestly, $50 worth of teeth for $2.75 is great ROI if you know where to flip em. You missed out on a profitable side hustle there.
