Stopped buying organic avocados after 3 straight duds from Sprouts
I kept grabbing the organic ones because I figured they'd be better. Three bags in a row from the same Sprouts in Tempe were either rock hard or brown inside. Switched to the regular ones for $1.50 less and haven't had a bad one in 2 weeks. Maybe organic just sits around longer before it hits the shelf. Anyone else notice this with a specific fruit or store?

Swapped to regular avocados from Fry's a few months back for the same reason and it's been way more consistent. I think the organic ones at big stores just sit in the back longer before they get put out. Maybe it's just me but the regular ones seem to ripen on a better schedule.

Oh boy, you just reminded me of something. I had a bag of organic avocados from Costco last month and it was like they all decided to go from rock hard to brown mush in the same 24 hour window. No warning at all. I ended up having to eat guacamole for three straight days just to use them up. Meanwhile the regular ones from the local grocery store down the street, they just sit on my counter and ripen one at a time like clockwork. Makes you wonder if the organic ones get handled differently somewhere along the line.
