Noticed a pile of bare pine desks at the recycling center
It clicked that everyone's buying cheap new stuff instead of fixing what they have.

Makes you wonder how many basic repair skills have just vanished. Someone's grandpa knew how to fix that desk, now it's just... skilled work nobody does.

Remember how everyone used to sew their own buttons back? I tried to fix a shirt last week and totally messed it up.

My old chair was wobbly last month and I almost threw it out. Watched a few youtube videos and fixed it with wood glue and clamps from the hardware store. It's still holding up great now. You're right @nancylee, that desk fix would have been common knowledge once. Sometimes you just have to try it yourself, the info is out there if you look.
