Had to decide between finishing fast or fixing a loose fence panel. Fixed it, and seeing the homeowner happy was worth it.

Did something similar once. Picked the "do it right" option over the "get it done" one. Honestly my fix was probably a little crooked, but the guy was so glad I even tried. Made me feel like a real pro, even though my work was definitely not pro grade. That good feeling from helping someone out lasts way longer than the time you save cutting corners.

Ha! Right there with you, @markthompson. My version of "doing it right" usually means the shelf I hung is level for about a week before it slowly gives up and goes crooked. But you're spot on, the person you helped never sees the flaws you do. They just see someone who showed up and gave it a shot, which is half the battle these days. That thankful look they give you beats a perfect, soulless job every time.

Exactly. A neighbor asked me to look at their wobbly railing last month. Spent an hour on it and my hands were sore, but seeing them use it without worry the next day? Best payment ever lol.
