PSA: Viral upcycled denim patchwork technique is causing major structural failures
I've had two jackets completely deconstruct after a single wash because the adhesive backing on the patches fails. The trend looks great on social media, but the bond doesn't hold under movement or moisture. One client's garment literally shed panels on a crowded bus. This isn't about aesthetics, it's about creating clothing that falls apart. If you're incorporating this method, you must reinforce with actual stitching at every seam. Ignoring proper construction for a quick visual trend is a fast track to ruined projects and angry customers. Test your techniques beyond the photoshoot.

Isn't it frustrating how these trendy shortcuts always backfire? I mean, using adhesive for patches instead of stitching is like building a house on sand, and it just shows how social media glamorizes the look over the function. We're basically creating more textile waste for the sake of a few likes, which feels backwards when you think about it.

Ugh, @matthewt54, I feel that. Tried the glue-on patch trend and it was a disaster after one wash. Switched back to proper stitching and my clothes actually last, which kinda solves the waste issue too.

Seriously though @matthewt54, is it Literally creating more waste or just a dumb trend that fades? Your point gets lost in the overstatement.
