Warning: I was trimming a draft horse's hoof in Spokane and the owner pointed out my rasp angle was too steep.
I'd been doing it that way for a solid year, and it explained why my bevels were always a bit off. Anyone else have a client catch a basic technique flaw you'd missed?

Remembered my kid correcting my pencil grip last week.

My 8 year old did the same thing to me last week, @annanguyen. I was writing a grocery list and she just reached over and moved my fingers. She learned the "right" way in school and now she's the handwriting police. It's so funny how they pick up these rules and take them so seriously. I've been holding a pencil wrong for like 35 years, I'm not changing now. Makes you realize they're really paying attention to everything we do.

My nephew did that to me at a family dinner, grabbed my pen and showed me the "proper" tripod grip. He learned it in second grade and was so serious about it. Kids get these rules drilled into them and suddenly we're all doing it wrong. My handwriting is messy but it works for me, been this way since I was his age. It's wild how they watch and copy every little thing, even the stuff we don't think about.
