I saw a hack for cleaning a blender with hot water and dish soap, then running it empty.

I did this with my Ninja blender last week and the soap foam exploded out the top, covering my whole kitchen counter. The pressure from the spinning blades with the lid on just forced everything up and out the vent. Has anyone found a safe way to clean a blender that actually works without taking it apart?

My old Oster blender survived a drop of Dawn and cold water.

Oh man, that exact thing happened to my sister! She called me, totally freaked out, said her kitchen looked like a bubble bomb went off. I read somewhere that the trick is to only use a tiny drop of soap, like way less than you think, and fill it most of the way with warm water, not hot. The hot water makes the suds go crazy. Also, maybe hold the lid down with a towel just in case? I’d be scared to try it again after your story though.

So @xena_brown50, did your Oster have the lid on tight when you used Dawn?
