The day I realized I'd been doing keto wrong for 3 months
So I jumped on keto last January and after 12 weeks I had only lost like 4 pounds. I was so frustrated I almost quit. Then my buddy Dave asked to see my food log and he pointed out I was eating like 6 carrots a day plus a whole apple every afternoon. I thought veggies and fruit were fine lol. Turns out I was accidentally eating 40g of carbs a day just from that. Whoops. Has anyone else followed a diet for months only to find out you missed a basic rule?

Right there with you. I did paleo for two months and couldn't figure out why I felt so bloated all the time. Turns out I was drowning my salads in a "healthy" dressing that had like 10g of sugar per serving. The real game changer for me was when I started meal prepping everything myself, no shortcuts. After I cut out that dressing and started tracking net carbs instead of just total carbs, the pounds finally started dropping off. It's crazy how the smallest thing can throw off your whole plan, but once you dial it in, it really does work. Just stick with it and double check everything you're eating, you'll get there.

Oh man, that dressing thing got me too. I read somewhere that most store bought salad dressings are basically sugar bombs with a little vinegar thrown in, and it blew my mind. I started making my own with just olive oil, lemon juice, and some herbs, and it's wild how much better I felt after a week. Also, I heard a nutritionist say on a podcast that your gut bacteria can actually crave that sugar, so when you cut it out you feel weird for a few days, but then it levels out. That totally matched my experience when I quit the bottled stuff cold turkey.
