My 90s fat-free diet phase was a hunger-filled mess
I jumped on the fat-free bandwagon in the 90s because it was everywhere. For a month, I ate fat-free yogurt, crackers, and salads with no dressing. The food tasted bland and never kept me full. I was hungry all the time and binged on fat-free cookies packed with sugar. Of course, I didn't lose weight and felt tired and grumpy. Now, I look back and see how silly it was to cut out all fat. These days, I add avocado and nuts to my meals and feel much better. The real lesson is to skip fads and eat foods that actually satisfy you.

Fat-free yogurt taught us nothing about real nutrition.

Exactly! Those labels just scared people into eating weird stuff.
It was all marketing, not health. They took out the good fat and loaded it up with sugar to make it taste like anything. Taught a whole generation to fear real food while eating junk. Pretty scary how well that trick worked.
