Vent: That time my friend asked to borrow $300 and I actually said yes

She paid me back $20 a month for over a year and I realized I should've just said no upfront because it made things super awkward between us for months, has anyone else had a loan to a friend go sideways like that?

I saw this article once about how borrowing money between friends usually ends up ruining the relationship way more than the money's worth. Honestly, you're better off just saying no from the start like I try to do now.

Ray, how many times have you actually turned someone down and how did they take it? I'm asking because saying no is easy on paper but way harder in real life when it's your brother or your best friend since grade school standing there looking at you. Did you lose any friendships over refusing, or did the people you turned down surprise you and respect it?
