Just realized how differently my wife and I handle our credit card debt

She wanted to ignore the $8,000 balance and hope for the best, but I insisted we make a real budget and pay $400 a month. After six months, the balance is finally dropping and the stress is way lower. Why is it so hard to just talk about money with the person you share a life with?
