A dropped screw led to a better repair approach
I was putting a laptop back together and a screw fell into the motherboard. While getting it out, I spotted a faulty capacitor I'd overlooked. What's a time you found a problem by accident?

Totally get that... I once snapped a bolt on my car's brake line and found the whole frame was rusted through while looking for the piece. Could have been real bad if I didn't see it then. Sometimes the mistakes force you to look closer.

Hold up, are we sure these "lucky finds" are actually that big a deal? I mean, a bad capacitor on an old laptop board is one thing, but calling a rusty frame a hidden disaster feels like a stretch. Sometimes a broken bolt is just a broken bolt, and the rust was just there, not necessarily about to fail. We jump to worst case scenarios way too fast.

Fumbled a wrench once and found a crack in the engine block I'd been ignoring. Guess my clumsiness has its perks?
