Update on a 4 hour job replacing a bathroom fan that turned into a 2 day saga because the previous guy used drywall screws to secure the entire housing unit.

I had to carefully chisel out a dozen of those things from the ceiling joist without wrecking the surrounding drywall, which honestly felt like defusing a bomb made by a DIY enthusiast on a caffeine bender.

My uncle's a contractor. He says drywall screws in framing lumber is the most common hack job he fixes. They just shear right off.

Honestly, reminds me of the time I found a butter knife wedged in as a makeshift level.

Drywall screws in framing is such a lazy hack. Did your uncle say what usually happens when people try to remove them? Do they just snap off and leave the head stuck in the wood, or does the whole thing usually come out in one piece?
