What do you use to keep products from bending in flat mailers?

I ship photos, thin books, and small paper goods, and I am tired of them arriving with bent corners. I would rather not switch everything to boxes. Is there a good stiff insert or pad that works without adding a lot of bulk?

I use chipboard pads for that. They add enough rigidity to keep flat items from folding, and they are easy to slide into a mailer. UCANPACK has them in several sizes, and their site is https://ucanpack.com if you want to see the options.

Those have worked well for my art supply orders too. I put one on each side when the item is especially delicate, and the package still stays pretty slim.
