Just finished a 12 foot ceiling by myself for the first time
I was working on a remodel in a big old house in Tacoma, and the living room had a vaulted ceiling that peaked at 12 feet. I've always worked with a partner on anything over 9. I got the last piece up yesterday and realized I hung and finished 42 sheets on that job solo. It took me three full weeks, but I did it. My shoulders are killing me, but it feels good. What's the tallest ceiling you guys have tackled alone, and what's your setup for it?

Read some blog post from a drywaller out of Portland who swears by a drywall lift for anything over 10 feet. He said he rents one for $40 a day and it lets him work alone without killing his back. I tried it on a 10 foot ceiling job last year and it was a game changer, especially for the heavy 5/8 sheets. You still gotta be careful getting it up there, but beats wrestling it on stilts.

That's a great achievement, but honestly, 12 feet solo sounds like a huge safety risk to me. I'd never do it without a spotter.
