We switched from a single pump to a dual setup on the dredge barge last month and the difference is wild.

Our old single 12-inch pump was struggling with a silty stretch of the river, barely moving 300 cubic yards a day. The boss brought in a second 10-inch pump to run alongside it. After three days of hooking them up in parallel, we're now clearing over 500 yards daily. The dual flow just cuts through the muck way faster without bogging down. Anyone else run a similar setup and have tips on balancing the pump speeds?

Getting a second gear" makes it sound like you're racing a sports car, not moving mud. Is the extra 200 yards a day really that big of a deal for the cost and hassle of running two pumps? Seems like a lot of work for a small bump in numbers.

Wow, that's like getting a second gear for your whole operation.

Didn't @hollyg59 read that article about how small daily gains add up over a whole season?
