Vent: My old firm's 2D detail drawings from 2018 look like cave paintings next to our new 3D model outputs.
We switched to full BIM coordination last year and the clash detection alone cut our RFI count by about 60%, so what's the biggest time-saver you've seen from moving to 3D?

Biggest win for us was cutting down site visits. Used to spend half my week driving to check field conditions. Now the model shows exactly what's in the walls before we even bid. Saved a ton on gas and wasted time. The detailers catch pipe conflicts in the office instead of the guys finding them with a torch.

The time saved on travel is huge, but the real win is cutting down on those last-minute change orders. You're not just saving gas money, you're protecting the profit on the job. I've seen whole material deliveries get scrapped because the model showed a duct run we all missed. It turns the office into a practice field where you can make mistakes without it costing real money.

Honestly? I used to think all this model stuff was just overhead. Extra time in the office that didn't really pay off. But now I get it. @the_rowan is right about those last-minute change orders eating your profit. We had a job last year where the model caught a plumbing conflict that would have meant ripping out a whole bathroom wall. That one find paid for the software for the whole year. Just changed my whole view on what the office can do.
