My bathroom floor tile cracked right down the middle after a year

I set it myself with a pre-mixed thinset from the hardware store, but now I'm wondering if I should have used a different mortar or left a bigger gap. Has anyone had a similar failure and figured out the fix?

What did you expect from that pre-mixed goop?

That pre-mixed stuff can be a real problem for floors. You needed a proper mortar and probably an expansion gap around the edge.

Wait, an expansion gap? People actually do that? I just slap the tile down.
