Bought a $20 tube of marine epoxy for a leaky gutter joint
My downspout was dribbling water behind the garage for months. I tried duct tape and silicone caulk but neither held up after a rain. Grabbed a tube of Marine-Tex epoxy from the hardware store for $20 and patched the crack in 10 minutes. It's been through three storms now with no drip at all. Anyone else found a random boat supply that works way better than regular home stuff?

Marine-Tex? On a gutter? That stuff is serious business. I've only ever seen it used on actual boats, like for hull repairs and whatnot. Never would've guessed it'd work on house stuff too. $20 seems steep for a tube of glue but I guess it's worth it if it actually stops the leak. Silicone always peels off on me after a few weeks. Might have to try this.

My neighbor tried Marine-Tex on a cracked birdbath last summer and now the birds won't even look at it. Makes me wonder if it's too tough for gutters honestly. I mean I've had the same problem with silicone, it just laughs at me after a couple weeks of rain. Twenty bucks feels like a lot until you factor in how many tubes of cheap caulk I've burned through trying to fix the same spot. Maybe it's just me but I'd rather spend the money once and be done than keep climbing up that ladder every month.
