Pro tip: Don't waste cash on those cheap resin casting kits from overseas

I blew about $60 on a starter kit with bad molds and it took me 4 tries to get one clear gear shape right... The resin never set properly because the ratio was off. Anyone else have luck with a specific brand that actually works?

Spend the extra cash on a known brand like Amazing Clear Cast or Alumilite from the start. I learned the hard way that cheap tools just burn through your wallet twice, once for the junk and once for what actually works. It's the same rule with stuff like drill bits and kitchen knives, the bargain bin always costs you more in the end.

Oh man, that's so true. My buddy Dave tried to save money on some cheap epoxy for a river table he was building, spent like 3 hours mixing it and it never even cured. Just stayed this sticky, gooey mess. He ended up having to scrape the whole thing off and start over with Alumilite.
