Found a hack for EL wire that actually stopped it from snapping on my jacket after 3 days in Portland
I ran a thin strip of hot glue along the entire length before sewing it into the seam and it hasn't flickered or broken once, anyone else tried this with their builds?

Huh, hot glue is a solid idea. I did something similar with a different project - dabbed some clear silicone caulk on the connections before heat shrinking them. Been through a few rainy shows and a couple washes, still going strong. The key seems to be keeping moisture out and the solder joints from flexing.

Keeping moisture out and the solder joints from flexing" - that sums it up pretty well. My first attempt at waterproofing a connector setup was just electrical tape and hope. Lasted about one car wash before the tweeters started cutting out in the rain. Had to pull over and fix it in a parking lot like a dummy. Silicone caulk is smart though, might steal that for my next build.
