My $60 homemade piercing kit gave me a second lobe at 3am, but I pretty sure it migrated a whole millimeter
Okay so I ordered one of those cheap piercing kits off amazon last month, the ones with the clamp and the needles and fake practice skins. Did my girlfriend's ear first, she said it didn't hurt bad. Then I tried my second lobe at like 3am after a double shift because I was bored and honestly the adrenaline made me not feel a thing. Fast forward 4 weeks and the hole looks alot higher than when I put the jewelry in. Not like infection or anything, just sits different. I measured with a ruler against a photo from week one and it's like 2 plastic skin things up. Is that normal for a home job or did I mess up the angle cause I was half asleep? Anyone else have their jewelry 'settle' weird after healing? Should I just take it out and let it close up? My girlfriend says it looks fine but she's biased since I did hers too.

Nah man that's just the skin settling. Same thing happened to my first one, looked crooked for a month then dropped into place. The angle thing is real though, if you was half asleep you probably didn't push straight. If it ain't red or leaking, leave it alone for another few weeks. Taking it out now just wastes the $60 and the pain. If it still looks off after 8 weeks total, then pull it and let it close.

...which reminds me of the time I put a staple through my thumb building a shed at midnight, that thing swelled up so bad I thought I lost the nail for good. Point is, bodies do weird stuff when they're tired and healing at the same time. Give it the full eight weeks like the other fella said, if it's still sitting funny then yank it, but don't judge a piercing on four weeks of sleep-deprived swelling.
